Finding a moment for yourself amidst the everyday whirlwind can feel like a luxury. And when that moment finally arrives, you want to make it count. There’s where a touch of self-care, like a little beauty refresh, can work wonders. But, if you’re anything like me, you might get a little lost on which self-care products to try.

I’m Natalie Ochoa, and I run “Deals for Mama,” a Facebook page that shares deals and product recommendations for the whole family. Because I know how hard it is to find the right goodies to treat yourself, I put together this list of 12 beauty products that I know are good—and don’t require a splurge.

1. Tula Skincare face wash

First on the list is The Cult Classic purifying face cleaner from Tula Skincare. The key here seems to be its balance—the probiotic and prebiotic ingredients work to cleanse your skin, including removing makeup and other impurities, without stripping it and leaving it too dry. Buyers back up this claim in their reviews, making this a good choice for those with sensitive skin.

The verdict seems to be out on the face wash’s scent, though. Some are indifferent, while others aren’t fans. For this reason, or any other concerns, you could pick up the travel size to see if you like it before investing in the larger sizes. When you know that you do, the jumbo pump will save you some cash while buying in bulk.

To get the most out of your fancy new face wash, read Reviewed’s expert guide on how to wash your face. You’ll find special tips depending on your skin type.

2. Tree Hut shave oil

Anyone who struggles with shaving bumps and nicks may be interested in this next one. Start with Reviewed’s how-to-shave article to make sure you aren’t making any common errors (there’s no shame in it). Then, you might want to make the switch from shaving cream to oil.

In your next everything shower, imagine pumping this Tree Hut oil into your hands. Its 100% all-natural shea butter starts as a gel, then turns to oil in your hands for a smooth, close shave.

3. Oars + Alps anti-aging moisturizer

Alright, let’s talk sunscreen—but make it skincare, too. By now, you’ve probably heard on Facebook or TikTok that you should be wearing sunscreen every day, but we all know it’s hard to remember to apply daily. If you pick up this moisturizer, you’ll have no excuse.

Its SPF 37 shields your face and neck from harmful UVA and UVB rays, and its hyaluronic acid and vitamin E ingredients provide deep hydration—more anti-aging benefits. If this one doesn’t seem right for you, browse Reviewed’s top face moisturizers of the year.

4. Tarte tubing mascara

Tubing mascara is a viral TikTok trend because it’s smudge-proof like waterproof mascara, but after you’re done wearing it all day, you can wipe it off with micellar water or makeup remover, and it comes off in seconds—no need to rub your eyes raw!

The Amazon ratings on Tarte’s mascara are excellent, with buyers complementing how the wand separates and lifts lashes. The lower-star ratings seem to be reviewers who are not experienced with tubing mascara. If you don’t want to hassle with learning something new, check out Reviewed’s list of best mascaras instead.

5. Hair Chemist hair spray

Ever have those days where your hair just won’t cooperate? Same. Frizz, dullness, humidity—it’s a never-ending struggle. Give this anti-humidity hair spray a try. It’s only for straight hairstyles, so not for everyone, but it will add a glass-like shine while preventing those pesky flyaways throughout the day.

6. Tree Hut bath soak

When you finally have extra time in the day for a bath, you probably have the urge to add something extra to it—because your usual shower gel with mediocre bubbles doesn’t cut it. I picked out this bath soak for nights when you want to pamper yourself with a long, hot bath. Maybe you’ll bring a book or watch some TV on your phone (my favorite!).

It has a watermelon scent with notes of lemon zest and raspberry, but it doesn’t just add aroma to your bathroom; the kiwi and avocado oil add hydration and a soft glow to your skin once you leave the bath.

7. Lancome lip gloss

There seems to be an entire subgenre of people who think, “lipstick looks weird on me.” I’m not sure why so many people feel this way, but one remedy might be trying lip gloss instead—it’s lighter, more subtle, and could be the transition into wearing other lip products.

Lancome Juicy Tubes are a fun place to start. Take your pick from ten colors: red, mauve, soft pink, or clear for a high-shine gloss. These add hydration like chapstick but give you a little “oomph” to your makeup routine.

8. Pixi blush stick

Blush comes in and out of beauty trends, but here’s a find that’s a little more timeless. With just one sweep, you can get a light color payoff on your check—more sweeps = deeper color. When you blend with your fingers, you get a natural, dewy glow that may never go out of style.

Not a makeup expert? Blush sticks are great for newbies since you don’t need any tools. Other kinds, like the infamous E.L.F. cosmetics liquid blush requires brushes and practice before diving into the application.

9. B.tan self-tanner mousse

Too busy for a real sun-kissed glow? Or don’t want to deal with sun damage? Try adding self-tanning to your self-care routine. I chose this mousse with natural ingredients—that means no weird smell—that’s easy to apply, develops in one hour, and won’t leave you looking orange. The best part? Tens of thousands of reviews can attest to its quality.

If you’ve never done this before, consider skimming through this tutorial on getting the perfect self-tan.

10. Iconic London makeup setting spray

I’ve tried tons of setting sprays, but this one is a little different—you can use it before or after your makeup routine or without any products at all. When used before makeup, it preps the skin to make your primer and foundation last longer. If you use it after finishing your full beat, it can give you a polished look.

For those who don’t wear makeup, you can spritz this on your face in the morning or throughout the day for a radiant glow. It boosts hydration and has caffeine to combat dark circles.

11. Biodance overnight face mask

If you think face masks are gimmicky, that might be because you’re picking up the wrong ones. In general, anything with a fruity scent—and likely added chemicals to get it—won’t actually do anything for your skin, but don’t let that stray you away from this one. This deep collagen mask is designed to be worn overnight. When you wake up in the morning, you’ll notice the once milky design has turned clear because all of the collagen, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and other skin-boosting ingredients have slowly been absorbed by your skin overnight.

12. Essence lash primer

Tired of mascara that disappears before the day’s even over? It turns out the culprit might not actually be your mascara but the fact you aren’t priming your lashes properly. Think of it like prepping a canvas before painting: A smooth, even base makes all the difference in making your lashes slay all day long.

The Essense lash primer is an especially fun product to try, as it’s only $5 at the time I’m writing this. Boost the longevity of your favorite mascara, avoid flakiness throughout the day, and even enjoy how it nourishes and protects your lashes.
