Rug Doctor, known for heavy-duty carpet cleaner rentals at hardware stores and home centers throughout the U.S., has announced that two of its products are now available for purchase.

The Portable Spot Cleaner (MSRP $149.99) and Deep Carpet Cleaner (MSRP $289.99) are now on sale at Amazon.com, RugDoctor.com, and select retail stores.

The first model of its kind for Rug Doctor, the Portable Spot Cleaner is a go-anywhere motorized brush designed to tackle small stains. This model is equipped with a convenient retractable handle, as well as wheels for easy transportation. The company promises "two times the suction" compared to similar products.

Rug Doctor's Deep Carpet Cleaner is a full-sized model with "dual-cross action brushes" to agitate stains and draw them out. There's also a "super boost" spray option available for cleaning high-traffic areas and the toughest stains. Rug Doctor claims this product offers 75% more suction than leading competitors, and boasts that it was awarded a Gold Seal of Approval by the Carpet and Rug Institute (which is apparently a thing that exists).

It's anybody's guess whether individual customers really need to own these kind of devices, which are typically rented infrequently and used in advance of big holidays, to clean up after a move, or to handle big stains. Of course, the Rug Doctor still makes one-time house calls. Both the Spot Cleaner and Deep Carpet Cleaner are available for rent, at about $30 per day.
