The European Union's recent ban on high-powered vacuum cleaners went into effect just days before IFA in Berlin, but manufacturers came ready with new cleaners that comply with the EU's strict regulations.
We were especially interested in Miele's latest vacuum, the C3 Electro EcoLine Plus. It uses just 800 watts, but demonstrated enough suction power to lift a Miele washer and dryer.

Despite the new energy rules, Miele managing director Frank Jüttner said that the new vacuums will clean well enough to satisfy consumer demands. "Most customers aren't willing to accept compromise in performance," he said.

While Miele's more powerful vacuums promise better dirt and dust pickup, the new EcoLine vacuum still gets a "Good" rating in the EU's official performance tests, in addition to a coveted "A" rating for energy efficiency.
