This year South Korean tech giant Samsung wants your TV to win back its place at the center of your home. Second-screen devices are on the rise, supplanting the television for younger generations, and Samsung isn't content to merely offer great picture quality anymore.

The company's new focus this year is smart home, or the Internet of Things, where the TV has a chance to once again reign as ruler of the room. Many of Samsung's 2016 smart TVs feature integrated home automation, allowing them to reach out and interact with your other connected devices.

That said, Samsung is still focused on delivering the sharpest and most beautiful TVs it can. Last year's premium SUHD lineup strides confidently into 2016 alongside 4K and Full HD sets. Samsung's robust SUHD sets are now brighter than ever, delivering quantum dot color and design that looks good from every angle.

SUHD TVs

9 Series: KS9800, KS9500, & KS9000

KS9800 Series

The KS9800 Series is Samsung's newly announced flagship line of TVs, slotting in above the KS9500 Series confirmed during CES 2016. The KS9800 series will be available in 65-, 78-, and 78-inch models with prices starting at $4,499. The curved KS9800 series delivers Samsung's full smorgasbord of picture quality improvements like "Premium UHD" certification, quantum dot color with DCI-P3 color space coverage, an alleged 1000+ nit peak brightness, and the usual 4K resolution and full-array local dimming backlight.

This series is the spiritual successor to last year's JS9500 Series and, like those TVs, delivers HDR compatibility, quantum dot color, and 4K resolution. The bezel-less curved screen features design aesthetics that extend to the back of the TV, too, resulting in a product that looks great from every angle.

KEY SPECS: • 55-inch, $2,499; 65-inch, $3,600; 78-inch, $7,999 • SKUs (USA): UN55KS9500, UN65KS9500, UN78KS9500 • 4K/UHD resolution w/ upscaling • Quantum Dot-enhanced color • HDR compatibility • Edge-lit backlighting • Built-in IoT/home automation hub w/ Tizen platform

KS9000 Series

{{amazon name="Samsung UN65KS9000 (2016 Model)", asin="B01C5TFNN2", align="right"}} The KS9000 Series TVs are extremely similar to the curved KS9500 TVs, only they're flat. The KS9000 TVs are available in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch sizes, each featuring 4K resolution, quantum dot color, HDR compatibility, and the newly revised Tizen smart platform.

KEY SPECS: • 55-inch, $2,299; 65-inch, $3,499; 75-inch, $6,499 • SKUs (USA): UN55KS9000, UN65KS9000, UN75KS9000 • 4K/UHD resolution w/ upscaling • Quantum Dot-enhanced color • HDR compatibility • Edge-lit backlighting • Built-in IoT/home automation hub w/ Tizen platform

8 Series: KS8500, KS8000

KS8500 Series

{{amazon name="Samsung UN65KS8500 (2016 Model)", asin="B01C5TFIYQ", align="right"}} The curved KS8500 Series TVs pick up where 2015's JS8500 left off, only the KS8500 sets are curved. Available in 49-, 55-, and 65-inch sizes, the KS8500 TVs continue to offer quantum dot, HDR compatibility, 4K resolution, and the Tizen smart platform.

KEY SPECS • 49-inch, $1,699; 55-inch, $1,999; 65-inch $2,999 • SKUs (USA): UN49KS8500, UN55KS8500, UN65KS8500 • 4K/UHD resolution w/upscaling • Quantum Dot-enhanced color • HDR compatibility • Edge-lit backlighting • Built-in IoT/home automation hub w/ Tizen platform

KS8000 Series

{{amazon name="Samsung UN65KS8000 (2016 Model)", asin="B01C5TFNSM", align="right"}} Once again, the next step down KS8000 is almost identical to the KS8500 TVs, but they're flat instead of curved. The KS8000 is available in the widest range of sizes, however, with 49-, 55-, 60-, and 65-inch options available by May. The KS8000 TVs continue to deliver the same high-end specs as Samsung's other SUHD models, albeit with slightly less performance than the 9 Series.

KEY SPECS • 49-inch, $1,499; 55-inch, $1,799; 60-inch, $2,299; 65-inch, $2,799 • SKUs (USA): UN49KS8000, UN55KS8000, UN60KS8000, UN65KS8000 • 4K/UHD resolution w/ upscaling • Quantum Dot-enhanced color • HDR compatibility • Edge-lit backlighting • Built-in IoT/home automation hub w/ Tizen platform

8K TVs

S9 Series (UN98S9)

The 98-inch S9 may seem like something out of a CES fever dream, but it's real: a 98-inch LED LCD with 8K resolution that stands tall on four metal legs. The curved S9 boasts 7,680 x 4,320 pixels and uses digital signal processing to actively upscale content. Like the SUHD TVs, the S9 also boasts quantum dot color and "Ultra Black" dimming technology.

KEY SPECS: • Price pending • 98-inch curved LED LCD • 8K resolution (twice 4K resolution) • Quantum Dot-enhanced color • 4,200 radius curvature • 2016 smart TV features w/ IoT
