LG’s latest line-up of flagship OLED evo televisions—including the M5 and G5 (replacing the M4 and G4)— aim to fully embrace AI, echoing the personalization trend shared by seemingly everyone at CES 2025. Both TVs promise improvements in brightness, color, and gamer appeal. The M5 will also succeed the M4 in wireless audio and video capabilities.

LG M5 and G5 OLED TVs

OLED display technology has always offered great color and superior black levels. The new M5 and G5 cement that reputation by earning Perfect Black and Perfect Color verifications from the UL. However, peak brightness has always lagged behind LED TVs. They've gotten incrementally better each year, but LG is looking to give brightness a real kick this year by offering Brightness Booster Ultimate, which promises a brightness three times higher than conventional OLEDs like the B5 series. In a press preview event, I saw the Brightness Booster Ultimate in action and it's shockingly bright for an OLED.

The M5 uses LG’s Zero Connect wireless box, improving on the M4 with reportedly no loss in picture and sound quality, making it the first “true wireless OLED” (although the lingering necessity for a power cable undercuts the label somewhat). This is made possible by the Alpha 11 processor, which is also present on the G5.

LG already has a strong reputation amongst gamers. Many of its OLEDs rank in our Best Gaming TVs. The new G5 sweetens the pot with support for a 4K 165Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

A new Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation is meant to better detect and adjust to ambient viewing conditions, shifting picture settings to more accurately reflect the filmmakers' intentions.

Beyond the improvements to the display, the M5 and G5 have been packed with AI features, personalizing the TV experience in the extreme. Users are greeted by name when starting a viewing session and given personalized content recommendations that learn and improve over time. Partnered with Microsoft Copilot, the Large Language Model purports to understand conversational prompts. For instance, one might ask the TV to "show me that new movie with the emotions" and it would correctly suggest Inside Out 2.

The personalization also includes an AI chatbot and, similar to Samsung’s Vision AI, a Generative Image Gallery that can create custom generative backgrounds.

The LG G5 will be available in 55, 65, 77, and 83-inch models. The LG M5 will come in 65, 77, 83, and 97-inch models.

LG C5 OLED TVs

The new LG 2025 C5 series will feature an Alpha 9 processor and G-Sync 144Hz refresh. It has Brightness Boost, just not the Ultimate Brightness Boost of the G5 and M5, and LG declined to give specifics on peak brightness.

The C Series has long been a Reviewed top recommendation for consumers seeking a premium OLED experience that doesn't break the bank. Based on the specs and our first-hand looks, expect more of the same in the coming year.

The C5 series will be available in 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83-inch models.

LG B5 OLED TVs

The entry-level B series of OLEDs will feature an A7. Screen sizes include 48, 55, 65, and 77-inch models.
