We loved the original Pixel Watch and can't wait to get our hands on the second generation, Pixel Watch 2. It's available for preorder today (shipping next week) starting at $349 with Wi-Fi, or $399 with LTE capabilities.
We weren't thrilled with the first-generation Pixel Watch’s staying power, but the Pixel Watch 2 is looking more promising in this area. Google claims the wearable will feature all-day battery life, and just a half hour of charging gives the Pixel Watch 2 another 12 hours of use.
As Google owns Fitbit, we expect great health metrics tracking from their wearables. During today's Google event, it was revealed that the Pixel Watch 2 will feature 40% more accurate heart rate tracking than the original model, with a more glanceable user interface to help you make use of this information. What's more, with the inclusion of Fitbit’s Body Response technology, the Pixel Watch 2 can understand when you're feeling stressed and can suggest interventions to help you counter it, so managing your mental health, and therefore your life is a little easier. To help you meet your health goals, the Pixel Watch 2 comes with six months of access to Fitbit Premium.
All of this comes in a more resilient package, designed to stand up to the casual abuse of everyday life. Happily, Google hasn't sacrificed good looks with the Pixel Watch 2 to make it more resilient than its predecessor: you'll find little difference in the device's design language. And, those bands you bought for your original Pixel Watch? They'll fit the Pixel Watch too, just fine.
