Samsung Announces New ATIV Tab Models

Mobile giant Samsung announced two new additions to their tablet lineup today—the ATIV Q and the ATIV Tab 3. Fans of devices with beefier specs and the Windows 8 ecosystem should pay attention, because these products bring a lot to the table.
Meet the Samsung ATIV Q
A hybrid between a computer and tablet, the ATIV Q sports the guts of an ultrabook with the form factor of a tablet. A bit on the huge side, this thing sports a 13.3-inch screen, along with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, and an enormous resolution of 3200x1800. With a density of 275 pixels per inch, the spec sheet seems to tell the tale of an impressive screen.
In following with their older members of their ATIV line like the ATIV Tab 7, the ATIV Q is quite heavy, weighing in at 2.84 pounds to be exact. Because it can be used both as a laptop and as a tablet, users can switching between the form factors when it suits them without skipping a beat.
Meet the Samsung ATIV Tab 3
If you don't need a computing monster, Samsung also announced a more sensibly-powered tablet geared towards normal media consumption and casual use—the ATIV Tab 3. Though it runs Windows 8, an Intel ATOM Z2760 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 64GB hard drive means it's better suited for web browsing and less resource-intensive use. The screen isn't anything to write home about at 10.1" and a resolution of 1366x768, but Samsung will give its buyers value through partnered software like a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office Home & Student. It also doesn't hurt that the tablet is allegedly only 8.2mm thick.
