I’ve been uncommonly obsessed with fisherman sandals this season and I’m not quite sure why. Late last summer, I popped into Salter House—the sweetest cottagecore boutique in Brooklyn—and picked up a pair of their Sandana Jelly Sandals. I wanted to challenge myself to style an item that was out of the ordinary for me, both in terms of material and aesthetic. But they went straight into my closet…where they’ve remained ever since.

Not to be outdone, earlier this year, I discovered the Burnished Calfskin Fisherman Sandal from Ralph Lauren, a shoe that is so utterly beautiful that I gasped when I first saw it. It’s not a stretch to say I’ve probably thought about these shoes at least once a week for the last four months—and it’s not just their high price tag that keeps me from picking up a pair. I’m still not up for the challenge I gave myself a year ago.

This week, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Marie Pidancet, the mind behind Louise Misha, a fashion label that specializes in bohemian designs with global flair. Marie’s aesthetic has been heavily influenced by her travels around the world, and I know you’ll love her dynamic style.

Born into a literary and artistic family, Marie Pidancet is the granddaughter of the African poet and art collector Jean Laude. She began her career working at a fashion agency, but it was in India that she decided to deepen her knowledge of textiles and crafts before returning to France to create Louise Misha. The brand is sold internationally and plans to open its first retail store in Paris.

Marie, tell me about this sweet look!

🏠 - I love all the embroidered details on these pieces, which remind me of the antique tablecloths embroidered by my grandmother. All-white tablecloths embroidered with openwork have the same spirit as this set.

👗 - [This is a] look that's strong and easy at the same time, with no mental burden thanks to the [ease of a matching] set. Also, the skirt is high-waisted to elongate the silhouette.

How did you discover and develop your personal style?

My personal style has evolved with the stages of my life. Motherhood pushed me towards a more comfortable wardrobe. I'm always on the lookout for comfortable and feminine pieces that can be worn both during the day and in the evening depending on how you accessorize. I hate feeling overdressed—I don’t feel like myself. On the other hand, I place a lot of importance on the quality of materials.

What’s your go-to style hack?

I really like sleeveless cardigans. At Louise Misha, we offer them every season. They're embroidered or printed with pretty quilting or patchwork. Beyond their very practical function (layers and warmth), they’re pieces that immediately dress up a silhouette. Sleeveless cardigans even let you dress up a simple blouse like a piece of jewelry would do.

Which Louise Misha pieces excite you most for this season?

Louise Misha is always about floral prints that I can't get enough of wearing! Our summer print “Blue Summer Meadow” is one of my favorites and is really iconic with its vintage Indian flowers. This long summer dress with this print is the ultimate bohemian dress that you can wear on the beach but also in town.
