For the longest time, I’ve been the type to wear sweatpants and an old T-shirt to sleep. Although I’ve had matching pajama sets in the past, I almost always reach for cozy old reliable staples that often leave me looking like a mismatched mess. Recently however, I’ve been struck by the desire—nay, constant need—for sleep and loungewear that makes me look a bit more put together. And as it goes, on a recent social media scroll I came across Jambys, a brand that offers what it calls “performance inactivewear.”
Hoping to revolutionize the loungewear landscape, Jambys has a collection of boxers, tees, lounge pants, hoodies, and more—designed for comfortable days spent inside. Soft fabrics and attractive colors are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jambys: They’ve thought of everything and packed these designs with plenty of features that aren’t just visually impactful, but are indeed useful, too. The brand sent me a few pieces from their collection. I’ve been testing them out for the last few weeks and here’s what I think.
What is Jambys?
Jambys co-founder Jack Ambrose claims he had the idea to make a pair of boxers with pockets when he was just ten years old. The thought stayed with him, and several years later, Ambrose and fellow co-founder Andrew Goble partnered to launch Jambys. The brand is dedicated to offering high-quality loungewear that is designed to be worn when staying in, coining the term “performance activewear,” which suggests that these clothes aren’t just made to relax and sleep in—they’re made to last, too. In addition to its signature product, the Jambys Boxer, Jambys also offers a full range of unisex lounge and sleep apparel.
What I tested from Jambys
Made for lounging around the house, this tee is designed for comfort, and designed to last.
The one that started it all—Jambys’ signature product is this pair of durable boxers (with pockets!).
Stretchy material and thumbholes make this sleep tee a no-brainer.
These comfy pants have become my go-to winter sleepwear.
What I like about Jambys
From pockets in their signature boxers to thick, comfortable fabric, these loungewear staples rewrite the rules on at-home wear.
They’re endlessly comfortable and the fabric is exceptional
The first thing I noticed about Jambys was the soft and silky material. The modal blend fabric is thick and substantial. It’s woven with a French Terry interior, so it’s ultra-soft on the inside, while still offering a clean look on the outside. The fabric is heavyweight and hangs well off the body and yet it doesn’t overheat. In fact, it’s breathable and at times even feels cooling against my skin. The fabric is very stretchy, and while that's nice for lounging around, it wasn’t necessarily my favorite while sleeping.
One of my fears with especially soft fabrics is that they sometimes don’t hold up to laundering, but even after once- and sometimes twice-weekly laundry cycles, my Jambys look and feel just as good as they did the day that I received them.
The design details are outstanding
From built-in thumbholes on the long-sleeved tee, to an extra panel of fabric along the front of the boxers to prevent awkward accidental exposure, to the aforementioned pockets—Jambys thought of the wearer during every part of the design process. These aren’t just attractive matching garments, but they’re made to function seamlessly in a modern world. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had numerous especially lazy weekends where I went straight from the bed to my couch, and Jambys had me covered in comfort the entire time.
Matching colorways make for easy total loungewear looks
Before I’d even known about all of its useful functionality, I was first attracted to Jambys because of their distinctive bright color options. From solid tees and boxers, to colorblocked waistbands and piping, to special edition prints, there’s something elegant about a matching set of Jambys. In an instant, my sweats and tees were rendered useless. Now, even when I loaf around the house, I look put together.
What I don’t like about Jambys
The extra-stretchy fabric was a bit too stretchy for me, but isn’t a dealbreaker at all.
They run slightly oversized
Truly, there isn’t much that I dislike about Jambys. As I alluded to above, the stretchy fabric takes some getting used to if you’re used to cotton tees and flannel sleepwear, but the outstanding quality of Jambys' mixed modal material is in a class of its own, so I’ve learned to appreciate it over the last few weeks. Because of the added stretch, the shirts felt somewhat oversized. Comfortable? Absolutely. But they made me look a bit frumpy at times. Next time, I’d probably select JamTees in a size down so they fit closer to the body.
Is Jambys worth it?
Whether you go for classic solids or a fun print, Jambys is an outstanding choice when it comes to lounge and sleepwear.
Yes
As someone who is on a slow journey to upgrading their entire loungewear and sleepwear wardrobe, I will absolutely be purchasing more pairs of Jambys boxers and JamTees. The quality of these clothes is high, the aesthetics are on point, and the functionality is thoughtful. Best of all, with Jambys’ 77-Day “Comfiest Clothes” Guarantee, you can test out a pair for eleven weeks, and send them back for a full refund if you’re not satisfied. In my opinion though, you won’t need more than a week to know that you’ll love these durable and beautiful clothes.
