As a new yogi, I've been on the hunt for soft and flexible leggings and sports bras that'll be able to keep up with the constant stretching and movement that yoga requires. I'm someone who wears leggings often for comfort and fashion, but shopping for workout leggings solely for exercise purposes requires a bit more research. Apart from style and comfort, it's important to consider the durability, stretchiness, and breathability of a pair of leggings that'll be used for yoga.

Thankfully, I got the chance to test out the Velvety Soft High-Waisted Leggings and Velvety Soft Racerback Bralette from Felina, a high-quality lingerie brand that has been around for decades. For the past month, I've put both pieces to the test to see how they held up during my yoga sessions, and here are my thoughts.

Felina offers high-quality lingerie and activewear at affordable prices.

Felina is a lingerie brand that was established in 1982 and aims to combine excellence with affordability. All of Felina's collections are designed, developed, and fit in the US by a team of five designers. Its pieces are crafted with quality in mind—each piece of lace is inspected by hand and pattern-matched, while every lingerie piece is hand-finished. All bra hooks are backed with velour and microfiber and the closures are secured with super-strong stitches that prevent unraveling. Its contour and push-up bras are lined with 100 percent cotton for additional comfort.

In addition to lingerie, Felina also sells leggings, loungewear, and activewear. Accessibility is also important to the brand—all pieces are under $100 and its bras are available in cup sizes A to G with 34 to 40 bands.

How I tested Felina

I chose to test Felina's Velvety Soft Racerback Bralette and Velvety Soft High-Waisted Leggings while practicing yoga, which I've done four to five times per week for the past month. Each yoga session lasted for a little over an hour.

Felina's leggings are super stretchy and durable, making them perfect for yoga.

The pieces are extremely soft and well-made

Upon opening up the bralette and leggings, I immediately noticed how soft they were. They were as velvety soft as described on their website, and felt like butter against my fingers. They were also smooth and comfortable on my skin, especially the leggings. Even though I wore them solely when doing yoga, I could've easily used them for lounging around the house or a casual day out because of how comfortable they were.

I could also tell that the pieces were made well—the fabric was durable and of high quality. I was impressed by the stitching and I loved the stylish, minimalist design. They're also super lightweight and breathable, which is important for working out.

The leggings are great for yoga

Yoga involves a lot of stretching and continuous movement, so having leggings made of stretchy, flexible material is extremely important. Felina's leggings passed the test. I could stretch and perform various poses with ease. I didn't feel restricted or confined and the leggings never lost their shape regardless of how far or how often they were stretched. They're made with a four-way stretch that makes this possible, and this stretching capability allowed the leggings to easily withstand my frequent yoga sessions. I was also impressed by the double-layer waistband—it provided a perfect fit and made the leggings feel more secure, preventing any slippage or need to readjust throughout each yoga session.

What I didn't like about Felina

While Felina's bralette offered great support, it was restrictive and felt tight on my chest.

The bralette was too tight

The biggest drawback I had when testing Felina's products was how noticeably tight the bralette was. Before choosing the one I wanted, I looked over the size chart to be sure the bralette would fit and I placed my order based on the brand's guidelines. However, it was tight on my chest and I wish I had sized up. My chest felt restricted and the bralette was even a bit painful to wear, especially during a long yoga session.

This is the last thing I wanted while exercising when I was already overheated and sweaty, and I think the tight bralette only added to the heat and sweatiness. I also noticed that since the bralette was so tight, it didn't provide as much coverage as I would've liked. It revealed a bit too much cleavage and I found myself having to constantly readjust it to make sure my breasts didn't slip out.

The bra padding constantly shifts

Something else that was a bit annoying about the bralette was that the padding didn't stay in place, especially after a wash. It would always shift and move out of place, and it would even fold over. Having to wiggle my fingers into the tiny insert was a nuisance and a bit difficult to do. Even though I adjusted the padding multiple times, I still don't think I ever got it back to its original positioning.

Is Felina worth it?

Felina's activewear is my new favorite workout gear.

Yes, but be sure to size up on the bralette.

I'd definitely recommend trying Felina, especially the leggings. If you're someone who works out or practices yoga often, I'm sure you'll love the flexibility of the four-way stretch and the comfort that they offer. Even if you don't exercise frequently, the leggings can also be worn casually since they're so comfortable and stylish. While I had some issues with the bralette, I'd still recommend it as long as you size up. If I had ordered a medium instead of a small, I think I would've had a much better experience and the bralette wouldn't have felt so tight and restrictive. Both the leggings and bralette have the sleek, minimalist style that I prefer and I love the various color options they offer.
