"Doctor Who" is one of those Christmas traditions the Brits kept from their American cousins along with bad chocolate, Boxing Day, and whatever "Christmas Crackers" are. Now that Benedict Cumberbatch is a household name stateside, we've also latched onto the traditional "Doctor Who" holiday special.

This year's adventure, "Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road" will also serve as the Fifteenth Doctor's (Ncuti Gatwa) first full-length episode. Here's everything you need to know about the 2023 "Doctor Who" Christmas Special including where to stream it.

What is 'Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road'?

This year's "Doctor Who" Christmas Special is a celebration of firsts. This will be the Fifteenth Doctor's first foray as the Time Lord protagonist and will feature a brand-new companion, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). Together, they must stop a floating skyship full of goblins intent on eating up newborn babies. The episode is penned by longtime Who writer and occasional show-runner Russell T. Davies, and will explore LGBT themes, and pack all that warm and emotional smarm one demands in their Holiday specials.

Joining the starring duo are actresses Michele Greenridge (Carla Sunday), Angela Wynter (Cherry Sunday), Anita Dobson (Mrs. Flood), and Davina McCall, as herself.

Where can I stream the 2023 'Doctor Who' Christmas Special?

"Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road" will be available to stream on Disney+ on Christmas Day, December 25 at 12:55 pm EST. If one episode isn't enough, you're in luck, because there are three more recently released "Doctor Who" specials commemorating the Doctor's 60th anniversary. All these new action-packed specials will make for perfect post-holiday binging, while you and your family are enjoying your new gifts, eating too many cookies, and nursing an eggnog hangover.
