Industry professionals know that CES is one of the biggest events of the year for smart home tech—and it’s how we can see what’s coming for consumers from all our favorite brands. The “smart home,” in general, has been evolving significantly over the past few years, with the launch of new standards like Matter and Thread, as well as new companies playing bigger roles in developing smart home devices.
Much of this has culminated in CES 2025, where many of the biggest brands announced some of their most important smart home releases of the year.
Curious about whether these devices might interest you? Check out these five CES smart home innovations.
1. Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni
The Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni is making headlines for a few different reasons. For starters, it's one of the first robotic vacuums to support Matter and HomeKit, allowing users to easily control it. Perhaps more important than that, however, is the fact that it has an all-new mopping system that could allow it to clean your floors much more deeply. The vacuum has a roller mopping system, and while we'll have to wait to see how it performs in real life, it seemed to do very well in Ecovacs’ demo on the show floor at CES.
The Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni will be available for $1,399.99 starting in mid-February.
2. Withings Omnia smart mirror
The Withings Omnia Smart Mirror is just a concept for now, but the idea is that it will serve as a central hub for all of your health tracking data, and even go a step further to allow you to book doctor's appointments with specialists. The base of the device is essentially a larger version of a Withings Smart Scale. Meanwhile, the mirror can display information like health trends and data related to your heart. It's a neat concept, but the mirror is pretty large, and it remains to be seen if people would put something like it in their home.
Because it's just a concept, you won't be able to buy the Withings Omnia Smart Mirror anytime soon. But hopefully, Withings will experiment with other ways to pull health information together in ways that are helpful for customers.
3. Lockly smart locks
Lockly unveiled a series of smart locks at the show, including one that serves as one of the first smart locks with ultra-wideband, along with the Lockly Styla, a stunning extended door handle lock that should look amazing on most doors. In general, Lockly has been experimenting quite a bit with adding more unlocking methods to its locks, but the Styla does so while also offering an excellent design.
The Lockley Styla will come at a relatively expensive price of $699.99, and there's no word on exactly when it will be available beyond sometime in 2025.
4. Roborock Saros Z70
What if your robotic vacuum could also pick up larger objects from the floors and put them in things like trash cans and hampers? That's the idea behind the Roborock Saros Z70, a robot vacuum with a robotic arm that can extend from the top of the vacuum to pick up objects around your home. It's a super cool way to add more functionality to the robot vacuum, and we can probably expect to see more vacuums with features like this over the next few years.
The Roborock Saurus Z70 will ship at some point this year according to Roborock, but we don't know exactly how much it will cost or when it will launch.
5. Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus
The Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus is a 7-inch display that you can use to control all of the devices in your home. The device can be installed in place of a standard light switch, so it can use the existing electrical setup that you already have in your home. It not only controls the lights that it's attached to, but also other smart home devices that are set through the Aqara app. It's a neat way to add more functionality to your smart home without having to pack everything into a smartphone app or voice controls. Plus, it should serve as a stepping stone for those who don't want to use their phone all the time, and for guests who still want to be able to control smart home devices.
The Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus is set to be released in the first quarter of 2025, but we don't have exact pricing for it just yet.
