While it didn’t invent the mattress-in-a-box, Casper is arguably the company that popularised the concept. Since it launched its first mattress in 2014, it’s been one of the dominant players in the industry and 2023 looks to be a busy year for Casper, with the company announcing a couple of exciting new products. Hot on the heels of the budget-friendly The Casper, the company is launching the cooling Snow mattress.

Like the Casper Wave, the Snow is a hybrid mattress with layers of foam resting atop a base of supportive coils. The construction of the Snow mattress is a little unusual compared to others. Like almost every hybrid, it features pocketed springs and a couple of layers of foam. However, the middle layer of foam is zoned, meaning some areas are firmer than others. It also has a layer of foam bands sandwiched between the first and second layers that Casper claims can aid in cooling the mattress.
It may offer better cooling performance than other Casper mattresses
The Casper Snow features several layers of foam and springs, all designed to keep sleepers cool and comfortable.
If the name wasn’t enough of a hint, the Snow’s main selling point will be its cooling performance. The mattress has several features that are designed to keep hot sleepers cool. The CoolTouch cover is made from a specialized cooling yarn that Casper claims will move heat away 20% faster than a regular cover. The top layer of foam is perforated to improve airflow, and underneath are a series of HeatDelete Bands that Casper claims remove 34% more heat when compared to the Wave Hybrid mattress.
Casper mattresses haven’t faired well in our cooling performance tests lately, so we are curious to see how the Snow performs in this area when it arrives in our lab.
The zoned support might provide improved pressure point relief
One of the best aspects of the Casper Wave Hybrid was its zoned layer of supportive memory foam. In our tests, it provided a great balance of cushioning and support and provided a good level of comfort and pressure point relief. The Snow features a layer of memory foam that is divided into three ergonomic zones of variable firmness and will hopefully provide a similar or improved level of comfort and relief as the Wave Hybrid.
What early reviews are saying
Since the Casper Snow was only released this week, there aren't any reviews yet. We will be testing this model in our labs shortly, and we will let you know how it stacks up against the competition.
Should you buy the Casper Snow?
The Snow is the latest cooling hybrid mattress from Casper.
We haven’t tested the Casper Snow yet, so It's hard to say whether it’s worth it right now. Casper hasn’t faired well in our labs lately, so we are curious to see if the cooling and pressure relief tech in the Snow mattress bucks the trend. It’s also worth noting that with an MSRP of $1,995 for the queen, the Snow is one of the pricier options in the Casper roster. It’s still much cheaper than our top-ranked cooling mattress, the Serta Arctic. If the Snow performs as advertised it could give other similar mattresses a run for their money.
