Norwegian Epic is a big, lively ship that will appeal to a wide range of vacationers. Families, in particular, will appreciate the vessel’s large deck-top water slides, extensive children’s play areas and family-friendly shows.

Freedom of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships on the planet and it's chock full of on-board activities, including an ice skating rink, rock climbing wall and the cruise industry's first FlowRider surfing pool.

Significantly smaller than Celebrity Cruises' new Solstice Class ships, the Celebrity Summit is a relatively quiet vessel that will appeal most to couples and retirees looking for a less bustling experience than one will find on some other major lines. The ship is slated for a major overhaul in 2012.

No longer among the newest, hottest ships, yet it’s still a solid choice for would-be cruisers, particularly families.
