June 18, 2007 – Xerox added another affordable black-and-white desktop multifunction printer series to its lineup today with the release of the Phaser 3200MFP series, designed for small businesses. The 3200MFP/B features print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities and retails for $399, while the 3200MFP/N adds networking and e-mailing capabilities for $499.
At a sleek 22 pounds, both Phaser 3200MFP models boast a 300MHz processor and 64 megabytes (mb) of memory, as well as 600 x 600 dpi copy resolution and 1200 x 1200 interpolated dpi print resolution. The units can scan at a maximum interpolated resolution of 4800 dpi.
The models also feature an auto document feeder and 4 mb of fax memory which can hold up to 320 pages. Manufacturer-reported print and copy speeds of 24 pages per minute (ppm) place the Phaser 3200 series printers among the fastest MFPs in this price range. Added security features include PIN-released faxes, in which recipients must enter a code to access incoming faxes, which are held in the MFP. Scan to PC Desktop software allows users to scan documents in a variety of document formats, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and as images files such as JPEGs, TIFFs, and PDFs. Xerox has also included features to reduce paper consumption. PC Fax Send is a software program that allows users to send faxes directly from their PC. Another paper-saving feature is ID Card Copy, which provides the tools to copy both sides of a document onto the same side of a piece of paper. This can be used for any type of document but is geared for identification cards, insurance cards, and the like. The Phaser 3200MFP series is Vista compatible and Energy Star compliant.
