Aimed at small business users, the Phaser 6130 is a new low-cost color laser from Xerox, who claim that the faster processor and 1GB of memory will make printing quicker and easier, with a print speed of 12 pages per minute in color and 16 in black and white. It prints at a 600 by 600 dots per inch resolution in 4 colors, with 16 shades per color. Other similarly priced printers have similar resolutions, but use fewer shades per color.
The Phaser 6130 includes a 250- sheet paper tray and can handle labels, card stock and envelopes. The network connectivity is supplied by a 10/100 wired ethernet adapter; an optional 802.11g wireless adapter is also available. Xerox are also claiming that a number of features make the Phaser 6310 easier to use, such as pre-installed printer cartridges (no more messing with installing cartridges before you can print) and their run black feature, which allows users to keep printing in black and white if the color cartridges run out.
The Phaser 6130 is available now, and is priced at $399 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
