OXO, perhaps best known for its line of kitchen tools and utensils, has unveiled a collection of small kitchen appliances called OXO On. The series includes two coffee brewers, a kettle, two toasters, a hand mixer, an immersion blender, and an integrated coffee grinder and scale
The new products not only mark OXO's first foray into the appliance world, they are the first electronic devices the company has ever produced.
We recently had a chance to check out the entire collection and were impressed by some of the unique features.
There's a ton of competition in the small appliance space, and OXO seems to realize this. You need to offer something unique to stand out among the likes of KitchenAid, Hamilton Beach, and Cuisinart. But it looks like OXO is coming out swinging.
"This launch is the culmination of more than two and a half years of research and development efforts," said Alex Lee, president of OXO. "Our goal was to take the design philosophy and processes we've developed over the past 25 years and apply them to the small kitchen electric appliance category."
The OXO On line ranges in price from $80 to $300, and will hit the market this fall.
Coffee Grinder/Scale
9-Cup Coffee Brewer
The 9-cup coffee brewer features a computerized brew cycle that makes 2 - 9 cups of coffee. The boiler heats water to an industry standard temperature (Specialty Coffee Association of America), and then pumps it in timed cycles to the brew basket for extraction. (MSRP: $199.99)
12-Cup Coffee Brewer
The 12-cup coffee brewer also features a computerized brew cycle that makes 4 - 12 cups of coffee. Water is heated in the removable borosilicate glass kettle to industry standard temperatures (SCAA), then transported through a precision pump to the brew basket in measured cycles. The glass kettle can also heat water for tea and other hot beverages. (MSRP: $299.99)
Hand Mixer
The hand mixer includes a soft-glow LED headlight that offers bakers a clearer view of the mixing bowl to monitor progress. A DC motor self-adjusts to consistently work at one of six digital speeds as batter thickens. (MSRP: $79.99)
Immersion Blender
Like the hand mixer, the immersion blender features a soft-glow LED headlight for illuminating pots and mixing bowls. It has six digital speeds, all powered by a DC motor designed to maintain consistent mixing speeds as food content thickens. The silicone stem and nylon head are designed to protect cookware from dents and scratches. It comes with a 3-up beaker. (MSRP: $89.99)
Electric Kettle
Built from borosilicate glass, the automatic 1.75-liter electric kettle is able to boil water faster than a microwave, according to OXO. It features an illuminated LED power button that switches off when the water boils. It also features a removable stainless steel filter, a soft-open lid, and measurement settings. (MSRP: $89.99)
2-Slice Toaster
The 2-slice toaster includes a motorized elevator for raising and lowering bread, as well as a "Take-A-Peek" feature that allows you to check the toasting progress without stopping the heating cycle. It has nine darkness settings, a removable crumb tray, and self-centering toaster racks. (MSRP: $99.99)
4-Slice Toaster
Like the 2-slice toaster, the 4-slice toaster includes a motorized elevator for raising and lowering bread, as well as a "Take-A-Peek" feature that allows you to check the toasting progress without stopping the heating cycle. It has nine darkness settings, a removable crumb tray, self-centering toaster racks, and independent backlit LED interfaces. (MSRP: $159.99)
