Whirlpool Makes a Splash at IFA 2014 in Berlin

Why are all these people paying such close attention to a PowerPoint presentation about sales figures for the German front-load washing machine market?
Simple: Because Whirlpool is talking.
The Michigan-based appliance giant is also a growing presence in Europe, bolstered by its recent $1 billion acquisition of Italy's Indesit, one of Europe's major home appliance companies.
On the heels of that purchase, Whirlpool decided to show off its European lineup at IFA Berlin for the first time ever. There's a whole booth dedicated to its German Bauknecht brand, which includes washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, fridges, cooktops, wall ovens, and even a few design concepts.
Some of these appliances are very similar to their American cousins. Others are totally homegrown, and a few are as mid-Atlantic as Katharine Hepburn's accent. Have a look:
