It’s time for the classic evergreen wreath to step aside and make room for the modern hoop wreath. Embracing simple, clean lines, the hoop wreath is a minimalist take on front door holiday décor. As the name implies, the base of a hoop wreath is a lovely wooden or metal ring that has florals attached to half, leaving the other half unembellished.

There are many reasons to love a hoop wreath, but one of the best reasons is its everlasting quality. Many hoop wreaths come with artificial or dried florals so it can last many holiday seasons.

Of course, you can buy pre-made hoop wreaths, but it will cost you a pretty penny. You could go for a simple eucalyptus wreath styling, or a decorative holiday hoop wreath.

However, if you’d rather get crafting this year, a hoop wreath is simple and fun to make yourself. Here's how to make a hoop wreath.

Choose any florals and greenery you like for this festive holiday wreath.

To get started, plan out your design. Pick out which florals and greenery you want to use and start to arrange it over the hoop. Use your wire cutters to trim any flower stems to your desired length.

2. Secure florals to the hoop

Once you've picked out your florals, secure them to the ring with floral wire.

After planning out your design, start securing it to the hoop with floral wire. If you haven’t used floral wire before, it’s straightforward and just requires a good pair of wire cutters.

Thicker stems will require looping the floral wire around the hoop a few times. Once you have everything in place, knot and twist the wire to secure it.

3. Cover up any exposed wire or bare spots

Hot gluing florals onto your hoop wreath can hide any exposed wire.

After you have your design tied to the hoop, you may notice some bare spots or exposed wire among the florals. This is where the hot glue gun comes in. Cut off smaller leaves and stems and hot glue them to cover up any spots you want hidden.

4. Hang up your design

Once your design is complete, all you need to do is hang it up. Grab a wreath hook and hang it over your front door for a festive look.
