Beloved beauty brand Glossier has won over make-up wearing masses with its greatest hits including Boy Brow eyebrow pomade, Cloud Paint cream rouge, and its eponymous perfume Glossier You. I'm a fan myself and keep my eyes peeled for the company’s newest releases. Enter Glossier candles (available at Glossier) .
Obviously, I had to check them out. I am delighted to say that these candles advertise absolute luxury, dispersing rich scents throughout the air while burning cleanly through non-toxic wax in stunning, reusable glass jars. However, the strength of its aroma varies across the different fragrances, and the wax burns unevenly.
I love Glossier Candles, but it competes in the ranks of Nest New York and Diptyque, great alternatives that burn more evenly.

About Glossier Candles
Each candle comes in a beautiful glass jar embossed with the Glossier's artistic logo, and its vegan and paraffin-free wax blend will burn for 45 hours. You can purchase the candles in three different scents: its signature Glossier You with notes of spicy pink pepper, iris, and musky ambrette seeds, or you can try orange blossom neroli or sandstone.
The orange blossom neroli candle, which comes in a chic pink jar, has notes of pear, mandarin, and cypress. It’s also the same scent as Glossier’s Body Hero collection, which includes hand creams, deodorants, and more. Sandstone, which comes in a teal jar, is inspired by Big Sur with notes of sandalwood, clary sage, and fig leaf.
What we like
Glossier Candles look as gorgeous as they smell.
The scents smell luxurious and complex
All of the candles smell divine. Rather than a traditional home fragrance like an essential oil diffuser or a plug-in diffuser, which just provides one straightforward note, the candles are complex and unique without being overpowering or off-putting. Plus, each scent is lovely for year-round burning.
Out of all three, sandstone is by far my favorite. It smells clean and woodsy, perfect for a cozy home. It’s ideal for burning after you’ve done a Sunday deep clean. Glossier You comes in at a close second, smelling like you’re walking into a fancy store—maybe one of Glossier’s retail stores. Light up the luxe scent right before guests arrive for a great first impression.
The orange blossom neroli scent is my least favorite. I expected this to be the case since I don’t love the strong powdery, floral scent of Glossier’s Body Hero line. Of the three candle scents, this one runs the strongest. It’s a nice option to burn in your bathroom, for a fresh, therapeutic fragrance.
Glossier Candles come in gorgeous reusable packaging
A gorgeous vessel sets a candle apart from being just a home fragrance, elevating it to a piece of décor. These candles come in sturdy glass jars available in shades of pastel pink, calming teal, and vibrant red.
Thick glass makes up the jar for a sturdy and high-quality feel. After all the wax burns off, you’re left with a colorful, modern vase to use for storage and décor.
The candles are crafted with natural ingredients
Made with non-toxic materials, Glossier candles don't contain paraffins either. Candles made with paraffin wax can release formaldehyde in the air, so it’s a relief to have these be clean compared to popular brand Yankee Candles, which contain paraffin wax.
Instead, the candles use vegetable wax, hydrogenated soybean oil, coconut oil, and fragrance—clean and simple ingredients that won’t pollute your air quality.
What we don’t like
The candle burns unevenly after just several hours of use.
The scent throws vary
A major inconsistency between the different scents is the varying strengths. Sandstone smells the weakest, unfortunate since I think it’s the best. The scent throw only extends about five feet from wherever the candle burns.
The Glossier You scent runs stronger with an extended scent throw that lingers even after the candle has blown out. On the other end of the spectrum sits orange blossom neroli, which dominates the airspace. The scent throw reaches wide, extending to multiple rooms. Plus, hours after you blow out the candles, the scent remains.
Glossier notes that fragrances “may take time to fill up a room,” but I still wish there was more consistency in the collection.
The wax burns unevenly
When I burned the Glossier Candles for the first time, I did so for at least three hours to try and get an equal burn and have no unmelted wax, but I observed some mixed results.
Orange blossom neroli burned evenly in just two hours, while sandstone and Glossier You still had an edge of wax that remained unmelted after four hours. I’m unsure if this is an issue of wax consistency or wick placement in the candle, but the inconsistencies are definitely apparent.
Should you buy Glossier Candles?
Yes, for clean, luxurious home scents
No matter which scent you choose, your house will smell lavish.
Glossier Candles bring opulent and rich fragrance into your home. All three scents feel like a lavish perfume but for your living space. Each candle comes in a sleek jar that’s reusable and beautiful. Natural soy and coconut wax create the wax of each candle for non-toxic burning.
The scent varies, some fragrances smell much stronger than others. Plus, not all of the candles burn evenly, however, these things are easy to overlook since it doesn't interfere with use.
If you’re a fan of Glossier’s perfume, you won’t be disappointed in its home candle line.
