About the Eureka Royal executive office chair

The headrest can be extended upwards several inches to accommodate taller users.

The Eureka Royal executive home office chair is a gorgeous, well-made chair for home and office use. While its MSRP is $699.99, it's currently available for $429.99—significantly less expensive than most of the other office chairs we've tested.

One of the standout features of this chair is its microfiber-reinforced leather upholstery, which is both remarkably soft to the touch and breathable. You can adjust the chair’s height from 19.3 inches to 22.4 inches, and the recommended height range is for people who stand between five feet and three inches tall to six feet and one inch tall. The backrest is also adjustable from a 98-degree angle to a 130-degree angle. The armrests provide ample support. The chair can tilt back slightly, but it doesn't have a dedicated tilting feature.

What we like

It's comfortable to sit in, even for prolonged periods

I sat in this chair over several business days and had no issues with comfort.

I sat in this chair for several full business days, and it was consistently comfortable. The chair's robust construction is immediately apparent, instilling confidence in its durability. Every component feels well-crafted, sufficiently solid, and supportive.

The foam padding is soft and firm. The armrests lined up well with my particular body and provided good support. The headrest was ideally situated for me at its lowest setting, though taller individuals can extend it considerably to suit their needs.

You can also adjust the chair's height and the angle of the backrest, which makes it great for various body shapes and sizes. I'm six feet tall and didn't need to adjust the headrest. While the maximum recommended height is for anyone around six feet tall or less, the extending headrest is enough to accommodate those a few inches taller.

The fabric and build quality are comfortable and breathable

The leather upholstery is smooth to the touch and breathable enough to not feel stifling.

While leather upholstery may not be for everyone, this executive office chair offers a unique blend of comfort and style. Its soft and smooth texture, coupled with its breathable nature, provides a relaxing sitting experience. The upholstery's resilience to scratching and spills further enhances its appeal. I was able to run a fork over it without any damage and clean up an oily spill without a visible stain.

The Eureka executive office chair is a great solution if you've had unpleasant experiences with leather chairs, such as discomfort from readjusting or a sweltering sitting experience due to poor breathability. It addresses these common issues associated with leather upholstery, providing a more comfortable sitting experience.

It's easy to assemble

The assembly process was quick and intuitive. Some of the pieces are heavy, though, so make sure to have help during the final few steps if necessary.

I found the Eureka Royal's assembly process straightforward and quick to complete.

The kit has everything you need, including a hex key, so no additional tools are required. The screws are relatively bulky so that you won't be fiddling with small, easy-to-lose pieces, and they are threaded into their respective slots quickly. I was able to get everything assembled in under 10 minutes.

The only issue some users may run into is that, due to its solid build quality, several of the pieces are on the heavier side. The heft makes maneuvering them during the assembly process tricky without a second set of hands.

What we don’t like

The chair has limited customization options.

You can adjust the height of the seat, angle of the backrest, and extension of the headrest. There is no dedicated tilt feature and the chair's arms aren't adjustable.

While I found this chair comfortable, the lack of customization options means not everyone will have the same experience.

One gripe I have is that the armrests are built into the chair and are not adjustable. You're out of luck if they don't align with your desired position. Many office chair armrests have some articulation, most commonly allowing you to customize their height, though some allow you to adjust their tilt and angle.

While you can tilt backward in the chair to some degree, allowing you to put your feet up on an ottoman, there is no dedicated tilt feature. If you want to get more of a recline, you'll have to adjust the backrest instead, which is more cumbersome than simply allowing the chair a wider range of tilt. I would have preferred a tilt toggle so I didn't have to keep readjusting the backrest.

There isn't much in the way of lumbar support

While there is some built-in lumbar support, it isn't much compared to competing office chairs.

The presence or absence of lumbar support in a chair can significantly impact your comfort, especially if you have specific back support requirements. In our reviews, we've come across chairs with a notably strong lumbar support system, but the Eureka executive office chair isn't one of them.

While I found the chair comfortable for long periods, those who require more back support likely will have a different experience.

Warranty

The Royal's warranty covers soft furniture components for up to two years. This includes the leather, upholstery fabrics and finishes, backrests, seat cushions, and headrests. Other parts are covered for up to three years.

Should you buy the Eureka Royal Executive Home Office Chair?

Yes, this is a well-made executive office chair for the money

This chair looks great and feels incredibly comfortable. The leather upholstery is remarkably soft and smooth to the touch and still manages to be breathable, even after long periods of sitting.

This chair's comfort, build quality, aesthetics, and price make it a good value, but it may only be ideal for some.

The chair lacks standard features commonly found on other office chairs, like adjustable armrests and a more robust tilting feature. Additionally, the Royal has very little lumbar support. Because this chair is only available with leather upholstery, those trying to keep vegan may want to look elsewhere.

If you're interested in a leather office chair with some additional lumbar support, I recommend checking out the Steelcase Leap. If you'd like another great, relatively inexpensive option, the Branch Ergonomic Chair is currently our pick for the best office chair under $350.
