We've all had the same argument with family members, partners, or other roommates: You loaded the dishwasher wrong!

Sound familiar?

It's common (and totally valid!) to be picky about where to position certain dishware in your machine, either because of the way you were taught, what you've read on the internet, or just based on dishwasher mistakes of the past. But Bosch is trying to change all that.

The new technology in Bosch dishwashers means there is no wrong way to load a dishwasher. Thanks to built-in smart cycles and customizations accessed through the helpful Home Connect app, you can place that burnt lasagna dish and dainty wine glasses wherever you like and still achieve crystal-clean results. Here's how it works.

Bosch's new spray arm technology means achieving a better clean with every load.

Perhaps the most exciting innovation introduced in Bosch's latest generation of dishwashers is the new PowerControl Spray Arm.

This upgraded feature, available in Benchmark and 800 Series models, builds upon the functionality of traditional spray arms (which rotate and disperse water evenly throughout the machine) by utilizing a rotating element at the end of the arm to focus cleaning power and achieve more consistently clean results.

The Home Connect app allows users to select individual quadrants of the bottom rack for targeted cleaning.

Perhaps the best part of the new PowerControl Spray Arm is its ability to focus on particular sections of the bottom rack with the intensive wash zone option. So if you have a lot of dishware with baked-on food in the front right or back left of the machine, you can select those sections for some extra TLC during the wash cycle.

The on-board control panel has two zone selection buttons—front and back—while the Home Connect app divides the bottom rack into quadrants and allows you to select just one.

Smart cycles can be adjusted according to what's in the load

Smart cycles mean more custom precision when it comes to everything from temperature to duration.

Whether you're washing a load of baby bottles, wine glasses, or casserole dishes (or a combination of everything), the Bosch dishwasher can adjust its cycle to best suit what's included.

The Home Connect app allows users to program unique settings for each load by inputting the dishware that they loaded into the machine. So delicate and durable pieces alike will receive the treatment needed in order to deliver clean, satisfactory results.

The Home Connect app is incredibly intuitive and easy to customize.

Speaking of Home Connect, Bosch's helpful app guides users through the dish-loading process with an incredibly intuitive interface that can help get the most out of every cycle.

Before pressing "Go," Home Connect guides users through a helpful questionnaire about that particular load, including what's being washed and what the user's goals are.

At this time, everything from load size and energy efficiency to time and temperature ranges can be adjusted to best suit that particular cycle. Then, the app will give you a summary of what settings were selected, which can be saved as a "favorite" to easily return to time and time again.

Beyond mere convenience and effectiveness, these settings can help users cut down on water and energy usage, which may eventually lead to money savings in the long run.

Of course, if you're not into using the app to customize settings, the Bosch 800 Series dishwasher features one of the best Auto settings we've ever tested, delivering dishes that were practically spotless with just the press of a button.
