GE’s New Dishwasher Tech Promises Sparkling Silverware

These new jets channel water directly to the cutlery basket.

From the same company that first introduced jets specifically designed to clean bottles comes jets specifically designed to clean silverware. GE Appliances recently unveiled a new feature in its upcoming Profile and Café dishwashers: a system of over 40 water jets strategically positioned underneath the cutlery basket.

Most stains that end up on your utensils don’t really need this kind of attention, but some common stains are actually very stubborn. Think peanut butter, cheese, or anything that’s been left overnight. Unless you soak or scrub them first, they're substances that can be very hard to remove.

While other dishwashers have designs that focus a spray on silverware, GE claims its system is unique.

Counting these latest additions, the new GE dishwashers will be equipped with over 140 individual jets. All models in the two lines will also feature a third rack and bottle wash jets. Needless to say, these are going to be premium machines: These Profile and Café models are in the $899-$1,599 range and will be available in June.
