Sometimes when I’m commuting to work, I see people listening to music with sad wired earbuds, and wonder if they even know what they’re missing out on. Not to brag, but I’ve had my top-of-the-line, over-ear Bluetooth headphones for a few years now, and have never looked back. I literally don’t think I could handle reverting back to my old Apple earbuds that came with my phone (shudders).

If you haven’t yet made the switch to wireless headphones, I highly recommend you do so immediately and give your ears the gift of crisp, flawless audio that you can really only get from a good pair of noise-canceling over-ears. Now happens to be a perfect time to take the plunge too, because Drop is running a limited-time sale on the best noise-canceling headphones we’ve ever tested, the Sony WH-1000XM3s.

From today until this Sunday, June 16, you can get the Sony WH-1000XM3 over-ears on Drop for just $289, which is a whopping $60 off their full retail price of $349. These headphones were released late last summer and have been garnering stellar reviews from experts like us and among consumers ever since. They caused quite a stir here at Reviewed, mainly because they out-performed the renowned Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Series II headphones in all of our tests. Your move, Bose.*

*Bose is actually set to release a new pair of headphones soon that may be better than both, but they start at $400, over $100 more than these are right now.

What gave the Sony WH-1000XM3 over-ear headphones an edge over the Bose QC 35IIs was one feature in particular that Sony aptly titled “Adaptive Sound Control.” This is just a fancy way of saying that the headphones are smart enough to sense your surroundings and adjust the level of active noise-cancellation (or ANC) accordingly, whether you’re on a busy train, walking down the street, or just trying to focus in a chatty office. You can even fine-tune the ambient sound settings however you prefer using Sony’s Headphones Connect app.

Personally, what I think makes the WH-1000XM3s stand out is that they’re completely touch controlled. Besides the obvious features like adjusting the volume or pausing the music, you have the option to enable “Quick Attention” mode by placing your hand over the earcup, so you can communicate without having to remove your headphones. This is a gamechanger for ordering a cup of coffee or having a quick conversation, especially if you’re lazy like me and hate having to take your headphones on and off all the time.

While you may think this stuff sounds super high-tech, don’t fret, because the Sonys are actually very user-friendly. They are easy to use, remain comfy after hours of wear, and have an extra long battery life—in short, they’re fabulous and you will fall in love, even if you're a Bose lover. To snag them at this fantastic price, all you have to do is sign up for a free account with Drop. Not to light a fire under you, but Drop has a limited quantity of the WH-1000XM3, so this sale will only last until this Sunday, June 16th. Also, keep in mind that these headphones have an estimated ship date of July 3rd. But patience is key, my young padawan, and this sale price is worth it.
