We’re doubtful that George Washington would ever have envisioned that the day of his birth would one day be a major shopping holiday, but here we are in the 21st century, and Presidents’ Day sales are a thing.
How this came to be, we’re not really sure. However, this is a popular post-holiday time when retailers want to clear out old stock to make room for new inventory. Consumers, largely homeowners, looking to invest in big-ticket items like the best mattresses, the best TVs, and the best refrigerators or other large appliances, can score some seriously good deals.
10 best Presidents’ Day deals you can shop today
1. Amazon

As you’d probably expect, Amazon has plenty of deals for Presidents’ Day on everything from home essentials to activewear and beauty products. Our top choice has to be a near half-price discount on iRobot’s Roomba Combo Essential robot vacuum. If you don’t have one yet, this might be your chance to ditch three manual house chores with a model that mops and self-empties.
2. Wayfair

If you’re looking for deals on, well, anything, check out Wayfair. The online retailer has tons of home décor on sale, plus sleep items like one of our favorite heated blankets. In testing, we loved how quickly the Beautyrest fuzzy throw blanket heated up, yet we didn’t love the price—making this massive discount an excellent time to snuggle up for the remainder of winter.
3. Mattress Firm

Presidents’ Day might be the best time to upgrade your mattress with Mattress Firm’s discounts. Beyond bed upgrades, you’ll also find pillows, mattress protectors, and sheets. But we’re most excited about its 50% price drop on our favorite hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud. It’s soft yet supportive, and it’s cool yet warm and cozy.
4. The Home Depot

Planning on making any major upgrades around the house or outside? Be sure to check out The Home Depot’s discounts before they disappear. You’ll find up to 40% off bath products and 35% off select large appliances, like the Bosch 500 Series fridge that we named the best 3-door French-door fridge after our rounds of testing.
5. Lowe’s

You’ll find kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor savings at Lowe’s this Presidents’ Day. Unless you have a home improvement project coming up, we recommend checking out the appliances category and seeing if anything catches your eye. One that caught ours is $100 off our choice for best ice machine—the GE Profile Opal 2.0. It makes that trendy nugget-shaped ice and does it quietly without becoming an eyesore on your counter.
6. Saatva

Upgrade your bedding in one go.
Luxury mattresses, pillows, bedroom rugs, sheets, and bundles are on sale at Saatva. We’re hardly a month into this chaotic year, so this may be a great opportunity to treat yourself to something that helps you rest more comfortably. Some of Saatva’s offerings include up to $500 off mattresses, plus an additional $100 savings when bundled with an adjustable base or upholstered bed frame. We also love this plus mattress pad, latex pillows, and sateen sheet set bundle.
7. Walmart

Keep your home smelling fresh all year long.
Walmart adds more and more Presidents’ Day deals to its website every hour. You’ll find the most deals on home improvement, sports and outdoors, and clothing. For us, the Honeywell air purifier with a similar HEPA filter as one of our favorite purifiers but at a more affordable price, is our top pick for this sale. The air in our homes is getting stuffier the longer winter goes on, and this air purifier can keep things fresh and clean.
8. Target

Target has many deals on tap this week, whether you actually need anything or are just looking for an excuse to make a run to your favorite place. While the retail giant has several discounted prices on items we’ve reviewed in electronics, home, and kitchen, we’re pumped to see a huge price cut on our pick for best overall air fryer toaster. While Target’s model is a little newer, this may be a good time to save 25% on crispy fries and easy cleanup with a nonstick interior.
9. Best Buy

Best Buy’s Presidents’ Day sale may be the best place to look if you’ve been planning any major appliance or electronics purchases. You can even find deals on electric scooters, litter robots, and smart bird feeders if you’re into that. One deal to strongly consider, though, is the Apple AirPods Pro 2, saving you $80 on the usual retail price. Our tester loved these Apple earbuds for their noise canceling, transparency mode, and sound quality, and you may, too—especially at this incredible price.
10. Nordstrom

Grab this celeb-favorite sneaker for less.
The change of seasons is coming soon, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Nordstrom has sale and clearance items up to 60% off for your wardrobe, makeup routine, or even last-minute Valentine’s Day gifts. We also spotted Emily Ratajkowski’s 574 New Balance sneakers in a few colorways if you can grab your size before they’re sold out.
When is Presidents’ Day?
In 2025, Americans celebrate Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 17. The federal government officially closes for Washington’s Birthday on the third Monday in February.
What is Presidents’ Day?
Presidents’ Day recognizes George Washington's birthday, which is February 22, 1732, federally and has been in place since 1879, although the moniker “Presidents’ Day” didn’t pop up until the 1980s. Today, some states also recognize other distinguished presidents, particularly Abraham Lincoln, on this day.
Unrelated, Presidents’ Day has also become one of the largest consumer shopping days in February, for which many popular retailers offer special deals and sales on large appliances, mattresses, and other household products.
How long do Presidents’ Day sales last?
Presidents’ Day sales typically extend for a few days and across the weekend before the Monday holiday.
Be mindful that stock can be limited during extended Presidents’ Day sales, so it's a good idea to buy your most-wanted products as soon as possible—this is especially true for larger items like appliances and mattresses. We often see hot-ticket items go out of stock quickly.
What other retailers offer Presidents Day sales?
Tons of stores, from big box retailers to specialty shops, offer Presidents’ Day discounts. Some of the best deals we’ve seen historically have been on mattresses, smart TVs, and large appliances.
Sleep Number, Leesa, and Tuft & Needle are all offering extended Presidents’ Day markdowns on mattresses we love.
For more appliance deals, you'll want to look to Samsung, where you’ll find savings on refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers.
While fashion and beauty products are typically not as sought-after during Presidents’ Day sales, you can find steep savings at places like lululemon, Nike, and Macy's.
Does Amazon deliver on Presidents’ Day?
Amazon does deliver on Presidents’ Day, although largely for Amazon Prime members who make select purchases. Delivery dates also largely depend on location, so be sure to check your shipping and delivery options at checkout.
