The Perfect Power Pot has 5-in-1 cooking functionality and can steam, boil, fry, sauté, and sear

With a mission statement of creating cooking products that “bring people together,” Our Place is known for designing aesthetically pleasing products that aim to make cooking easier. The brand's logic is that if a product is dynamic and beautifully designed, then one will be inspired to utilize it more.

The launch of its new Perfect Power Pot aims to achieve all of the brand’s goals: multifunctional cooking, toxin-free coating, and stylish design.

This compact electric pot is uniquely made for cooking a meal on the go, with a 1.7-quart capacity, detachable electric plug, and both low and high-heat cooking modes.

The Perfect Power Pot has an aluminum body and ceramic nonstick interior, and it comes with a nesting steamer basket, vented glass lid, and beechwood spatula.

The pot comes in two signature Our Place colors, Char and Spice, and currently retails for $120.

How we tested the Perfect Power Pot

The Perfect Power Pot can cook a wide array of ingredients, including searing and steaming

We were eager to test the multifunctional cooking methods of the Perfect Power Pot, which claims it is capable of steaming, frying, searing, sautéing, and boiling—all within one electric pot.

Using the included steamer basket, we steamed dumplings and then eggs, using the five divots in the basket to keep the eggs in place.

For frying and searing, we made classic grilled cheese sandwiches and seared ground beef to test the high heat capabilities and even temperature distribution. For the low-heat method, we steamed rice to test the consistency and evenness of the ingredient's texture.

We also boiled eggs and timed how long the water took to come to a simmer, along with sautéing vegetables for a classic shakshuka and simmering the tomato mixture. Additionally, we cooked through a wide array of recipes in the included Our Place recipe booklet.

What we like about the Perfect Power Pot

It heats up incredibly fast

We were surprised by how quickly we were able to caramelize peppers and onions in the Perfect Power Pot

For such a small-scale electric cooker, we were impressed with how fast and intense the Perfect Power Pot heats up. Featuring both low and high heat settings in one toggle button on the handle, we timed bringing water to a boil for eggs, which only took six minutes.

Additionally, while preheating the pot at low heat for their provided Shakshuka recipe, an infrared thermometer read 273°F after only two minutes of preheating time, yielding a quick sauté of peppers and onions that had great texture and caramelization.

We like that the heat source is both powerful and efficient, making this electric pot a great gadget for travel or places where a full kitchen is not accessible to you.

The size is conveniently compact and made for travel.

This small footprint electric pot is great for taking with you on the go

With a modest capacity of 1.7 quarts and weighing in at just under two pounds, the Perfect Power Pot is made for travel. All that you need is an outlet and a flat surface to plug in this electric skillet anywhere, especially with it including its own beechwood spatula that complements the nonstick ceramic coating.

The nesting steamer basket, glass lid, and detachable plug can be disassembled from the pot to make for easy packing and storing.

It's multifunctional and easy to use

With the provided recipe booklet, Our Place inspires home cooks to prepare both simple ingredients and dynamic meals with the Perfect Power Pot

Not only can the Perfect Power Pot cook meals using five different methods, but it is also designed to prepare multiple ingredients at one time.

We love that it can sauté, boil, steam, fry, or sear and that the nesting steamer basket can sit atop the nonstick ceramic cooking surface. This means, for example, that you can simultaneously simmer a batch of rice while steaming a piece of fish.

If the home cook can get creative with this gadget, then the Perfect Power Pot can save time, space, and plenty of dirty dishes.

Our Place provides its own recipe booklet to inspire the home cook with a few unique recipes, tips and tricks, and a QR code that will bring you to their site for more information.

With seven recipes and a page with directions for cooking pasta, it’s a great reference for the best methods to get the most out of this unique electric pot.

The nonstick interior is incredibly easy to clean

Despite the electric components of the Perfect Power Pot being the actual base of the vessel, this cooking gadget is a breeze to clean. It basically just calls for a quick wipe-down due to its nonstick ceramic interior.

Handwashing is also recommended for all other pieces including the glass lid, steamer basket, and spatula.

Because of its compact size and material, the outside of the pot stays cool to the touch and is simple to clean with a damp cloth.

What we don’t like

It can only cook smaller quantities

You won't be able to cook for a crowd with this electric pot

Considering the Perfect Power Pot’s capacity is only 1.7 quarts, we noticed that the serving size can only work well for singles or smaller families, averaging up to four portions. (Most of the recipes in the provided booklet yield two-to-four servings.)

For example, the “Taco Tuesday” recipe only utilizes a half pound of ground beef, and the Shakshuka recipe calls for half of a red pepper and half of an onion, both stating they only yield three servings each. The nesting steamer basket is designed with five divots for eggs. If you’re cooking for a crowd, this gadget would be challenging.

The high heat setting is very strong and ingredients must be watched

Keep a close eye on the Perfect Power Pot heat setting to avoid overcooking

When following the provided recipes in the Our Place recipe booklet, we noticed that some ingredients cooked faster on the high heat settings than the manual suggested.

When following the egg instructions in the “Restaurant Ramen” recipe, an “8-minute egg” in the steamer basket did not result in a runny yolk center and was more well done.

Additionally, a simple grilled cheese needed to be turned frequently and moved around to yield even doneness and color.

While we appreciate the power of the high heat setting, it is good to advise the home cook to stay nearby and attentive to each ingredient so components don’t overcook or burn.

Should you buy the Our Place Perfect Power Pot?

Yes. Especially if you’re a dorm dweller or frequent traveler

While this electric skillet may not be for everyone, it definitely has its upsides

The Perfect Power Pot has impressive features and is truly dynamic in its cooking capabilities, but it also has its limitations.

This is a great gadget for those who crave a homemade meal while traveling, and the portability makes it especially great for camping life or college dorm living—all you need is an outlet to get cooking.

However, if you’re a household of four or more, then this electric pot may not be the best fit for your home, considering the capacity cannot yield larger portions. If you appreciate the nontoxic cooking surface, the sleek design, and multifunctional cooking settings—but need to cook in more volume—then check out the Our Place Dream Cooker instead.
