Finding new ways to entertain guests or your family can be hard, and sometimes the best inspiration comes from the past. With more and more people embracing cheese plates and charcuterie boards, it’s no surprise we’re seeing a resurgence in retro fondue sets.
What’s great about these is that they can be used to heat a variety of things, so if you’re more of a chocolate lover, you can still enjoy them. After researching thousands of product reviews, we rounded up some of the best fondue sets that are easy to use and even easier to clean up.

Cuisinart CFO-3SS 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot
With a 3-quart capacity (12 cups) for melted cheese, melted chocolate, or any other type of fondue you can find, the Cuisinart CFO-3SS is a great pick for any entertainer. It has a nonstick interior, which makes it easy to clean, but what’s even better is that it’s dishwasher safe. The adjustable temperature probe has eight settings, so you can get just the right melting temperature to avoid burning your precious melty goodness. And reviews mention that this electric fondue maker heats up super fast.
The included instruction manual and recipe booklet keeps things user-friendly. In addition, this electric fondue pot also comes with a base, bowl, eight fondue forks, and a fork rack—not to mention the limited three-year warranty. All the pieces in this fondue set are BPA free.
Nostalgia FPS200 6-Cup Stainless Steel Electric Fondue
The smaller Nostalgia FPS200 electric fondue set gives off a retro feel, perfect for a fun fondue night with friends. The 38-inch cord is said to be a bit short for some, but the blue-lit temperature control dial makes it easy to see where your settings are. Reviews suggest keeping a close eye on the heat while you’re using it.
This fondue set features a cool-touch handle, so you won’t have to worry about little ones getting burnt, and six color-coded forks that sit in notches along the rim make it easy to decipher which fork belongs to you. All parts of this fondue set are detachable and dishwasher safe for easy cleaning in no time.
Capacity for this fondue set is 1.5 quarts, or 6 cups, and “like Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” this pot is said to be “just right for a family of four.” While this set is easy to use and pack up, one review mentioned that the steel rim on their fondue pot was extremely sharp, so take care not to cut yourself when washing it.
The Dash Deluxe Stainless Steel Fondue Maker comes in your choice of gray or aqua and holds up to three quarts in its nonstick interior. The PFOA-free nonstick coating included in the removable bowl makes cleaning up easy, so you won’t dread the end of your fondue parties, and the included recipe guide makes it even less daunting to host your favorite people for a dinner party.
Included with the Dash Deluxe are eight color-coded fondue forks, a fork rack to reduce dropping your fork into the pot, and a metal ring to hold all of your dipping necessities for easy snack access, though some reviewers mention that the included cups are a bit small.
Reviews also mention that the heat source gets very hot and that it’s a little too easy to burn yourself if you aren’t careful, so you’ll want to keep an eye on kids when using it. Some people end up buying multiples of this fondue set to give as gifts, and many reviewers praise the included fondue recipes.
Swissmar Lugano 2-Quart Cast Iron Cheese Fondue Set
On the more expensive side, the Swissmar Lugano cast iron fondue set features a simple design and comes in colors like cherry red, black, and deep blue. The cast iron fondue pot has an enameled interior, so there won’t be any issues with cheese or chocolate sticking to the sides. It sits upon a wrought iron réchaud with a base tray.
Six fondue forks with sturdy faux-wood handles give this fondue set a classic look, and the pot itself holds up to two quarts of your favorite cheese or chocolate. And, because the pot is cast iron, it provides even heat distribution without any pesky hot spots.
People who use this fondue set like that you can start it off on the stove, and while fuel isn’t supplied with purchase, it’s easy to acquire and set up yourself. One suggested pro tip for this fondue set is to check the bottom of the réchaud for burrs or rough spots to avoid scratching surfaces, as some people have encountered this problem.
While the handles on this fondue set do get warm, they still stay cool enough that you’ll be able to handle it during and after use, so burns are a non-issue. And the sliding ring on the burner cover moves easily, making it a breeze to adjust or put out the flame with the cover.
This enameled cast iron fondue set from Kitchencraft includes a versatile burner that uses either gel fuel or methylated spirits in order to melt your favorite cheese. The cast iron bowl easily retains heat, so you can spend plenty of time entertaining and less time worrying about getting that perfect melting temp.
Included with the set are six color-coded forks that will make it easy to differentiate which utensil belongs to each of your guests, and a five-year guarantee means you won’t have to worry about the set wearing out quickly.
People say that this set is easy to carry, so you shouldn’t have any unnecessary anxiety about transporting hot cheese or chocolate fondue. The only real issue people seem to have with this fondue set is that the fuel source is just “okay,” and therefore it might not get hot enough for heating oil or broth to cook meat.
There are a few tricks to making great fondue, the most important being to go slow and the second being that you must stir in the same direction throughout the fondue making process.
When we made fondue we decided to do a traditional cheese fondue recipe that included dry white wine, Swiss and Gruyere cheese, cornstarch, and cherry brandy.
After heating the fondue pot on medium heat I added 200 ml of dry white wine and let it heat up. Next, I added just under 14 oz. of fresh grated Swiss cheese and just under 14 oz. of grated Gruyere and let it melt slowly before slowly stirring in pinches of salt, pepper and nutmeg. A shot of cherry brandy helps so that the 1 tablespoon of cornstarch doesn’t clump as you add it next. This adds to the viscosity of your fondue. Once mixed you can turn the heat down to low and start dipping your bread, veggies or whatever else you’ve decided to pair.
What you can expect is smooth and creamy traditional fondue that goes well with vegetables, bread and more. Plus you can even spice up your spread with fun jams or spreads like homemade onion jam or your favorite chili crunch.
