The Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump (available at Simplehuman) is a paper towel holder with a built-in spray bottle. It’s a peanut butter and jelly matchup for your kitchen and cleaning needs, offering convenience by combining two products in one.

Now, this isn’t a unique concept, but it’s by far the most attractive design we’ve seen. All the others we’ve seen look like they’d more at home in a janitor’s closet than on our kitchen counters.

Simplehuman makes quality household goods we’ve tested, like Simplehuman trash cans, trash bags, and shower caddies. But does the Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump live up to the same hype? Here’s what I think.

About the Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump

The spray bottle is built into the holder.

  • Dimensions: 15” x 8.1” x 7.1” (H x W x D)
  • Weight: 4.5 pounds (with full roll of paper towels and full spray bottle)
  • Capacity: One roll of paper towels, six ounces of cleaning solution
  • Finishes: Stainless steel, white, matte black (members only), brass (members only)

The Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump is a two-in-one paper towel holder and spray bottle. With its spring-action arm, you can pull and tear as many paper towels as you want with one hand and spray the cleaner of your choice with the other.

What we like

The Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump is sturdy

This paper towel holder is easy to use one-handed.

In a landscape filled with cheap and throwaway goods, handling something built to last is nice. Everything on this towel holder feels solid. The majority of the surface is coated with brushed stainless steel, which we found to be fingerprint resistant.

The spring-action arm on the stainless-steel rod keeps the roll from unwinding and feels well-machined. The spray bottle clicked into place easily and is secure enough to also serve as a carrying hook.

This Simplehuman paper towel holder is convenient is if you’ve got your hands full

A rubber ring lines the bottom to keep it from slipping, the spring-action arm ensures smooth deployment of the towels. And you can dispense half the roll or tear off one sheet at a time with just one hand.

And because the spray bottle also serves as a carrying hook, you can move the entire unit with one hand too. This gives the Paper Towel Pump more versatility than if it was just a spray bottle stuck in the middle of the roll. It allows you to easily move the unit from kitchen table to countertop, while keeping your most crucial surface cleaners together.

If you’re the type of person that keeps your bucket or caddy of cleaning supplies under the sink because they kind of gross you out, this product is for you.

This Simplehuman paper towel holder looks classy

Working well and looking good while doing it is a potent combo. The Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump impressed us with its simple, but clean design. You can proudly display this paper towel holder in any room, making it more likely for you to use it. (And anything that helps you clean more often is a plus in our book.)

What we don’t like

The recommended accompanying products are so-so

The recommended cleaning products are fine, but nothing to write home about.

Simplehuman recommends its high-performance towels and multi-surface cleaning tablets.

We tested them out on various types of stains. They worked well enough. However, we’ve lab-tested tons of paper towels and the Simplehuman brand is middle of the road.

The cleaning solution is fine as well. We found it has a very pleasant smell (we got the citrus grapefruit scent), but it’s nothing special in the cleaning department.

However, the Paper Towel Pump works with any paper towel roll and liquid cleaner. The only major upside is that you can very easily order more cleaning Simplehuman cleaning products. There’s a QR code that can only be seen when you’re close to running out of paper towels. One quick scan and you can easily order another refill.

The paper towel pump is expensive

At the time of testing, the Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump cost around $80. Yes, you’re getting a high-quality product, but it is a lot. Whether or not this is worth it to you depends on if you’re willing to pay more for design and convenience. There are similar products sold for half the price, but they tend to be made of plastic that may get dingy over time.

Should you buy the Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump?

Yes, to add a touch of beauty and convenience to your kitchen

The Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump is a paper towel holder with a built-in spray bottle.

Despite the high price tag, the Simplehuman Paper Towel Pump provides good value. It looks classy, performs well, and adds convenience to your day-to-day cleaning duties. Fill it with your preferred paper towels and cleaning solution and you may find yourself actually wanting to wipe down your countertops just for fun.

However, we think it’s worth it because of its craftsmanship, convenience, and elegant design.
