Wouldn't it be great if you could valet your car everywhere you go, without having to worry about human error?
Last month at CES, BMW displayed a self-driving car that promises exactly that. You can send it off to a parking garage when you've arrived at your destination, and summon it with your smart watch when you're ready to leave.

Aside from the convenience benefits, the new technology could totally transform the way that cities look.
Consider how much space in the average city is devoted to storing cars when they're not in use. If you could get rid of street parking and garages (moving them outside the urban core), you could have wider sidewalks, bigger bike lanes, more expansive parks, and extra housing.
It's important to remember that the future of self-driving cars isn't just about the vehicles themselves—it's about how they'll change the lives of the people who use them.
