November 20, 2006 – Toshiba Corp. announced today the launch of the "world’s highest class of SDHC card," the first 8GB Class 4 Secure Digital High-Capacity memory card.The new card will be available worldwide in January 2007.
In accordance with the SD Card Association specifications, the new Toshiba 8GB card meets a class 4 standard. It can write data at a minimum rate of at least 4 MB per second.Toshiba’s 8GB SDHC card also has a maximum write speed of 6 MB a second, according to Toshiba’s press release today.
Pricing for the Toshiba 8GB SDHC card has not yet been announced.
