**January 16, 2007* – Sony Europe Recording Media & Energy (RME) will launch a Sony-specific CompactFlash memory card in the spring, according to a company press release today. Sony will release full details about the new Sony memory products at a later date.
"With the addition of CompactFlash memory cards to its product range Sony widens the choice for users of D-SLR cameras, such as the new Sony a100 model, that are looking for fast and reliable recording media from a leading brand," stated the release.
Adding to their Sony-dedicated Memory Stick format, the new Sony CF cards will be branded with the Sony name. The cards will include Type I CF cards, ranging from 1GB to 4GB at write speeds of 66x to 133x.
Pricing has not yet been announced.
