Sigma Corporation](http://www.sigmaphoto.com/) announced the 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM standard lens which is a new large aperture prime lens. The lens comes equipped with Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM), which ensures silent, high-speed AF and also moonlights as an effective 80mm medium telephoto lens on digital cameras with APS-C size image sensors.

According to Sigma, the super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. The new lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7") and has maximum magnification of 1:7.4. No word on pricing or availability.
