*August 21, 2006 – *Originally released two years ago, Sigma Corp. announced on Thursday that its 30mm f/1.4 EX DC (Digital Camera) lens is now fitted with a four thirds mount for Olympus DSLRs. Priced at $640, the f/1.4 lens is the largest aperture lens Sigma offers in their DC category and is currently available.
The Sigma 30mm has two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements to correct chromatic aberrations. Equipped with a Hyper Sonic Motor, the lens is fitted for APS-C sized image sensor cameras. The Sigma website warns that the DC dedicated lens may cause vignetting when used with 35mm SLR cameras or with image sensors larger than 4/3-inch.
The Sigma 30mm focuses manually and automatically from 40cm to infinity.
