April 4, 2006 –* Rollei announced the world’s first 6 x 6 medium-format digital and film camera bundle today; the Rollei 6008AF will come with a Sinarback eMotion digital back and some other accessories to complete the "Super Bundle." The film part of the camera accepts both 6 x 6 and 4.5 x 6 cm film. The digital back offers 22 megapixels and a 2.2-inch LCD screen to instantly check out the high-resolution photos. The professional hybrid system comes at a price. Photographers can pick up the camera, back, lens, and editing software for about $25,000.

Designed for studio professionals, the Rollei 6008AF is no trim and compact camera. With its measurements of 5.47 x 1.69 x 4.88 inches and weight of 3.3 lbs (not including the lens), this medium-format camera sure doesn’t come with a trendy wrist strap. The "Super Bundle" includes a Schneider-Kreuznach AF Xenotar 80 mm, f/2.8 lens. The kit lens is not the only compatible lens however; Schneider-Kreuznach offers 20 other lenses that can attach to the Rollei 6008AF.

The Sinarback eMotion digital back has a large image sensor with a substantial amount of resolution. Images can be shot in RAW, TIFF, or JPEG formats. The back includes a 2.2-inch anti-glare LCD with 116,000 pixels. It runs on a lithium-ion battery that gets about 250 shots per charge.

In addition to the camera, lens, and digital back, the "Super Bundle" comes with C1 Pro editing software. Rollei is releasing several integrated products in the United States, with the Rollei 6008AF headlining the series. The products are designed so that photographers won’t need to outsource from Rollei; clever, eh?
