August 14, 2006 –* Photo-printing website PhotoWorks, Inc. announced today the appointment of new President and CEO, Andy Wood.

As former CEO of Shutterfly, Wood joined PhotoWorks two months ago as a member of the Board of Directors. Wood replaces PhotoWorks CEO Philippe Sanchez who resigned two weeks ago. Sanchez is credited with having converted the company from a mail-order film-based service to an online photo-printing provider, according to today’s PhotoWorks news release.

"With Andy at the helm, we will laser-focus PhotoWorks as the leading destination for high-quality personalized photography products," said PhotoWorks Chairman Joseph Waechter who acted as interim CEO for the past two weeks.

Sanchez continues to work with the company as a company advisor. Meanwhile, Waechter will resume his position as chairman of the company.

PhotoWorks will continue its emphasis on customized photo portfolios and plans on releasing an upcoming "E-mail Photo Book" option, according to the release.
