May 16, 2007* – Today, the subscription-based online sharing site Phanfare announced new features to allow users to directly upload photos from their camera to the web. Phanfare now also allows users to manage photos offline without Internet connection.

"Families are taking both videos and photos with their digital cameras," said Phanfare CEO Andrew Erlichson in a company press release yesterday. "Phanfare lets them manage and share all these memories in a single, private, secure, ad-free environment. Our latest enhancement makes it easier for even novice users by starting from the moment they attach their cameras to their computers."

Called "background uploading," Phanfare members can connect their digital cameras to their PC for direct and automatic upload to the member’s online sharing site. With the added features in this Windows update, users can now work offline and manage their photos, allowing users to pre-organize their images without Internet connection. Once Internet connection is re-established, the application automatically uploads the photos to the website, first with resized images optimized for the web. Then the application loads the images at full resolution.

Phanfare will announce a Mac version update with the new Offline feature and direct camera upload at a later time. Phanfare is available for $6.95 per month or at $54.95 per year. Users can also opt for the $299.95 lifetime membership.
