Pentax Announces 6 Megapixel Optio S60

August 23, 2005 - Pentax announced yesterday the latest addition to its Optio line of digital point-and-shoots, introducing the 6 megapixel Optio S60. The camera features a 2.5 inch LCD as well as an optical viewfinder which displays zoom levels. The Optio S60 is expected to be available in October at an estimated price of under $300.

The aluminum bodied Optio S60 contains programmable function buttons and offers a 3x optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent range of 35-106 mm. Twelve picture modes are available on the camera as is a built in help menu that explains basic functions on the camera’s LCD screen. Movie and audio recording is also available as well as several digital image effects.

The 3.5 x 2.3 x 1.1-inch Optio S60 weighs in at 6.5 ounces (including batteries and media) and can run on either the included AA batteries or an optional rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. The Optio S60 utilizes an SD-memory card and supports direct printing to PictBridge compliant printers.
