January 16, 2006 – Today, Pentax builds on their line of Optio WPi waterproof point-and-shoots with the introduction of navy blue and wine red Optio WPi cameras with kits, which are still in the $350 price range.

The blue and red versions of the Optio WPi have the same features as the silver-toned Optio WP released in 2005. Though geared towards point-and-shooters, the OptioWPi does have some manual control, namely over EV Compensation, Flash and ISO.

The OptioWPi only has 10.5 MB of internal memory, but there is space for a memory card. There is an A/V digital out for viewing photos on a TV as opposed to the 2-inch LCD monitor with 115,000 pixels. The OptioWPi takes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery; there is also a DC in port.
