Dec. 7, 2007* – Olympus yesterday announced a firmware update for the 8-megapixel, ultra-zoom SP-560UZ. Version 3.1 gives the 560UZ wireless flash support, making it compatible with the Olympus FL-50R and FL-36R electronic flashes.
The Olympus Wireless RC Flash System uses the 560UZ’s built-in flash to control the wireless flash, which receives a signal from the camera using its remote sensor. When in RC mode, the built-in flash cannot be used. The wireless flash system allows a greater area to be illuminated for photos in low-light situations.
