Nikon Expands into Thailand

Nikon Corp. last week announced that the digital camera manufacturer has invested 519 million baht (equivalent $15.2 million USD) to expand digital camera and optical equipment production in Thailand, according to a July 4 Reuters news report.

July 9, 2007* – Digital camera manufacturer Nikon Corp. last week announced it has invested 519 million baht (equivalent to $15.2 million USD) to expand digital camera and optical equipment production in Thailand, according to a July 4 Reuters news report.

With the production expansion, Nikon’s digital SLR units and lenses will each grow to 300,000 units per month this year, ending in March 2008. Each division will increase its unit production goals from 290,000 units from the previous year.

Nikon will hire 5000 more employees to work in the factory located at the Rojana Industrial estate in Ayutthaya.
