June 1, 2006 –* Nikon updated its release schedule for its software offerings in a press release today. The company announced that its Capture NX software will be available next month for a $149 retail price. Nikon’s Camera Control Pro and Image Authentication software will also be released in July.
Nikon Capture NX was first announced in February and its release date was set for May. When the company ran into a few delays in their development schedule, the release was pushed to July. Nikon Capture NX provides image enhancement and editing functions. Users who have Capture 4 software can upgrade on Nikon’s web site for $89 instead of the full retail of $149.
Nikon also announced that its new Camera Control Pro software will be offered next month for $69. This program links up to Nikon cameras with the USB cable or with an optional wireless transmitter and allows photographers to snap shots from a computer.
Nikon’s Image Authentication Software, which lets photographers track changes in image files, will retail for $569 next month. All of Nikon’s software programs are available from www.nikonmall.com.
