Jan. 9, 2008* - Memorex announced at CES its new backup solution for photos - Memorex SimpleSave DVDs. SimpleSave automatically searches a computer's hard drive for either photos or music, automatially backing them up in case files are damaged or lost on the computer.
Memorex cites a report from Harris Research that claims 96 percent of consumers don't back up their computers on a regular basis, calling the process 'overwhelming and inconvenient.' SimpleSave: Photo has 4.5 GB of memory, allowing for about 2,200 photos based on file size.
No software configuration or installation is required, and the SimpleSave disc notifies users when the memory on the disc is full.
'There's nothing worse than losing all your important files, especially precious photos that can't be replaced,' said Carla Pihowich, Memorex Brand Manager, Imation Corp. 'With SimpleSave DVDs, Memorex offers consumers an easy to use, all-in-one solution for automatically backing up your PC.'
Memorex SimpleSave: Photo DVDs will be available in packs of five for $12.99 when they are released in April.
