December 8, 2005 –* According to Xinhau, Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd. (Fuji Japan) is shifting their digital camera manufacturing base of operations to Suzhou, the Capital of Jiangsu province in China.
The company has invested $44 million in a new plant which is expected to be at full capacity by March 2007. The president of Fuji Photo, Yoji Sekihara, boasts that the new facility will have a yearly output of 5.5 million digital cameras per year.
This is just another feather in China’s cap of many from Fuji who has invested over $300 million dollars in China since 2004 and already employees 1,600 employees in Suzhou. Suzhou, perhaps best known for its landscaped gardens and Venetian-like canal system, is approximately 50 miles east of Shanghai.
