April 15, 2005 *— The Pentax *istDS can now accept Secure Digital cards larger than 1 GB, thanks to a firmware update announced today. The 6.3-megapixel digital camera can be updated to the version 1.02 firmware from Pentax’s web site. The new upgrade will also include the previous upgrade’s improvements, offering a reduction of green noise when shooting in dark situations such as astronomical photography.
The Pentax **istDS was announced last September and is one of the most compact digital SLRs on the market right now. Weighing 17.8 ounces, the **istDS offers a range of manual options and can shoot in JPEG and RAW formats.
