July 10, 2006 – DxO Labs just released their photo editing software DxO Optics Pro version 4. The update will be available in September 2006.
"Designed for advanced and professional photographers," the DxO Labs website states, the automatic photo enhancing software is geared for images from DSLRs and advanced digicams. The program is compatible with PC and Macs with the new v4 supporting Intel-based Macs.
The third update to be released, DxO Optics Pro v4 contains new features including multi-point color balance and color rendition tools. Version 4 also has expanded "image geometry control" to correct vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and lens distortion. The new Volume Anamorphosis correction feature can reverse a distorted image shot with a wide angle lens and restore it back to its real-life proportions, according to a DxO Labs Friday press release.
DxO Optics Pro v4 promises to work 500 percent faster than previous versions, states the release. "DxO Optics Pro v4 marks a radical overhaul of the applications ergonomics as well as many important enhancements to the workflow," according to the release.
The update is free for existing users of v3.55 who purchased DxO Optics Pro after June 20, 2006. DxO Labs has not released information of the price of the full updated v4.
