Quik Pod](http://www.quikpod.com/dslr.asp), the expandable monopod for a digital SLR, just got longer. Geared for taking self-portraits or shooting overhead, the Quik Pod extends from 18 inches to 53 inches. Calling itself the "world’s first extendable hand held tripod," the Quik Pod retails for $49.95. The catch is that is can only hold up to 2 pounds. That might support consumer SLRs like the Nikon D40 (17 ounces) or the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (18 ounces), but probably won’t hold the more recent, heavier SLRs geared for the pros.

Fifty bucks is a lot to ask considering that most cameras come with a self-timer or live preview that can do the same thing. P.S. It will also save you from the embarrassment of having a four and a half foot rod jotting from your body.
