*July 16, 2007 *– Along with a slew of firmware updates this month, Canon has today announced a software upgrade that modifies camera-computer connectivity and RAW editing capabilities. The updated EOS Utility version 2.0.2 and Digital Photo Professional 3.0.2 are available for download in Windows and Mac OS X versions.
Users of the Canon EOS camera system are encouraged to update their camera firmware to EOS Utility 2.0.2, according to the Canon website. EOS Utility controls communication from the camera to one’s computer, including remote shooting. The latest edition adds an Auto Power Off mode during Remote Live View and correct Click White Balance when using the 1D Mark III. Other improvements include Picture Style settings (contrast, color tone, color depth, and sharpness settings) and faster connection with the WFT-E2 Wireless File Transmitter.
Canon also updated Digital Photo Professional, improving its RAW editing and conversion characteristics on images shot with EOS digital cameras. Version 3.0.2 promises improved image display quality and correct Picture Style setting values.
