October 27, 2004 – Today, BenQ announced five digital cameras to expand its line, with each model targeting a distinct consumer demographic.
The * BenQ DC C62* is for the technologically savvy crowd. With 6 megapixels, this camera starts up in one second and takes pictures even faster. It has 19 scene modes and a 3x optical zoom. With the same zoom lens is the * BenQ DC C60* , which has Program, Aperture priority, Shutter priority and Manual modes and is meant to attract more "serious" photographers.
The * BenQ DC C51*****is the bare-bones budget model for the line of digital cameras. Equipped with 5 megapixels, the C51 has the basics: a 2-inch LCD screen and a 3x optical zoom. This camera will surely appeal to entry-level users and consumers whose pocketbooks are nearly empty.
The * BenQ DC E41* claims to be the "world’s only digital camera equipped with a 2-inch touch-screen." This may be true, but where are the bragging rights? It’s like inventing the world’s smallest font; congrats, but who could read it? Unless you have extremely petite fingers, a 2-inch touch-screen will only be a hindrance to taking photos. Fortunately, the 4-megapixel E41 has more useful features such as a handwriting function, MP3 playback capabilities and a scrawling function with 100 downloadable frames for photos. Sound familiar? Earlier this week, Epson released the L-500V, another digital camera with downloadable frames. The biggest difference between the Epson and BenQ models is the megapixels; the Epson comes with 5 megapixels and the BenQ packs in 4. The E41 comes in red, gold and blue. It is aimed for the users who value compact cameras and showy features.
The * BenQ DC E30* offers the same 4 megapixels as the E41, but ships even smaller. The business card-sized digital camera is made for the physically active consumer.
