June 19, 2006 – Adobe Systems, Inc. announced the resignation of its president of worldwide fields operations, Stephen Elop, on Thursday. Elop, former CEO of Macromedia, joined the company when Adobe acquired Macromedia in 2005. Just one year after the merger, Elop is stepping down from his executive position.
"The responsibilities of leading Adobe’s worldwide field operations are not aligned with [Stephen Elop’s] longer-term career goals," says Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen in a June 15th Adobe press release.
Elop heads the global sales and marketing of the nearly $2 billion company. Elop will remain on the Adobe executive board until December 5, 2006, according to the Adobe press release.
