February 2, 2007* – Along with the new Lightroom 1.0 announcement last week, Adobe recently unveiled details for the update to their RAW processor, Camera Raw version 3.7. The free download of Camera Raw is slated to coincide with Lightroom’s launch on Feb. 19.
Camera Raw 3.7 is an update to Photoshop CS2 plug-in for both Mac and Windows systems. Version 3.7 will introduce cross-application compatibility between Photoshop CS2 and the new Lightroom. For example, Camera Raw will now be able to recognize RAW data from Lightroom options that Camera Raw does not offer, such as the dust spotting tool. The new compatibility will allow users to covert RAW data between both programs.
Version 3.7 also adds RAW support for new cameras including the Nikon D40 and Pentax K10D.
Adobe does not plan to update Camera Raw 4.0 for the Photoshop CS3 beta, according to representatives.
